　　这两个单词都来自于同一个拉丁语词根，它们的意思是bitter(苦味)。但是acrid(辛辣的、苦的)用来表达taste(味道)或***ell(气味)，acr Lmomo峪(严厉的、辛辣的、刻毒的、讥讽的)特指quarrels(争论)或discussions(讨论)。

　　这两个词主要区别是：ambiguous总是“无意识的、非计划中的”，而equivocal则可能是有目的的，打算要搞欺骗。例如an ambiguousstatement(模糊不清的论述)是那种不知道如何表述清楚的人们所做的;而an equivocal statement(模棱两可的论述)则是不想表述清楚的人们所做的，所以他们要用“double talk”(不知所云的话)。任何人讲的话可能会ambiguous(模糊不清);但你必须足够聪明、有一定水平讲的话才可以equivocal(模棱两可)——比如外交官，官方发言人、特尔斐神谕、《马克白》中的女巫等人。
